My Blessed Friends,
Today, as we celebrate Veterans Day, let’s pause to honor
the bravery and sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in our nation’s military. These individuals are a testament to the power of courage, resilience, and commitment to a cause greater than themselves. In a world where freedoms are not guaranteed, our veterans stand as protectors of those
liberties, ensuring that we can worship freely, express ourselves openly, and live in peace.
John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” is a powerful expression of sacrificial love, showing the depth of commitment and selflessness that Jesus
exemplifies. This piece of scripture is very fitting to reflect on today as we honor all our veterans.
Scripture reminds us of the importance of gratitude: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Let’s extend our gratitude not just today, but every day. For each veteran, may we say a heartfelt “thank you” and recognize the blessings they’ve helped secure for our
communities, our families, our churches and our nation.
As we reflect on this day, let’s come together in prayer for our veterans;
Lord, today we ask you to bless each one of our veterans with
peace, rest, and healing. For those still carrying burdens of their service, may they feel Your hand of comfort and healing upon them. For families who have sacrificed alongside their loved ones, and have an empty space in their hearts and homes, we ask that Your blessings surround them and bring peace that only You can bring. Lord, please help raise our nation in unity today with loving hearts to love and support those who have fought for the freedoms we are blessed with. And may we all stand with hearts that honor their courage, knowing that You call us to “do everything in
love” (1 Corinthians 16:14).
If you yourself are a veteran, Thank You for your service. Thank you for the sacrifices you made so our nation could be better. If you have personally lost someone who served our country, I'm so sorry for your loss. We give thanks for the service of your loved one who gave their life for our freedoms. You are in my prayers that the Lord provide peace and comfort for you.
So, as you go about your day, consider reaching out with a
simple act of kindness—a word of thanks, a prayer, or a moment of listening. Whether you know a veteran personally, support local veteran organizations, or know a family of a veteran, these small acts reflect Christ’s love and the gratitude we carry in our hearts.
May your day and week be so very blessed and filled with love,
Billie
